A COMPANY that manufactures sensors has closed its Basingstoke office.
Gems Sensors & Controls, a global supplier of sensing and control solutions, has closed its office in Lennox Road, near Viables.
The company designs and manufactures a broad portfolio of liquid level, flow, and pressure sensors, miniature solenoid valves, proximity switches and integrated fluid management solutions.
The Gems Sensors story began more than 60 years ago in 1955 when the company founder, Edward H. Moore, developed a level indicator in his basement.

Along with an associate, Gordon Seigle, they established the Gems Company.
Gems' first commercial success was a bilge switch for the small boating industry.
The rapid acceptance of Gems' products for marine and industrial applications led to the continual expansion of facilities and staff.
