NEW data shows the number of incidents involving e-scooters in Hampshire has increased since 2020, resulting in the county being the fourth highest for injuries in Great Britain.

The data shows how many injuries were reported to Hampshire police as a result of e-scooter incidents in each of the previous three years.

The data accounts for reports between 2020 and 2022.

In 2020, 17 injuries were reported to Hampshire police as a result of e-scooter-related incidents, accounting for four per cent of all related injuries reported in Great Britain that year.

In 2021, the number of injuries reported to police in the county as a result of e-scooter-related incidents rose to 35, this increased in 2022 to 96.

By percentage, the five police forces with the most e-scooter-related injury reports in Great Britain in 2022 are:

  • Metropolitan Police - 25 per cent
  • Avon and Somerset Police - eight per cent
  • West Midlands Police - eight per cent
  • Hampshire Police - six per cent
  • Nottinghamshire Police - five per cent
