THE incredible story of a baby donkey who was stolen from a farm near Hook has been turned into a children's picture book.
Moon was stolen from her mother, Astra, from a field at Miller's Ark on May 15, sparking a huge appeal to find her.
The foal was just two-months-old when she was taken, and her theft left staff at Miller's Ark "devastated" as they appealed to the public for help finding her.
Just as staff had given up hope of ever seeing Moon again, in a miraculous twist of fate the baby donkey was found by police at an address in High Wycombe more than two weeks after she was stolen and she was reunited with her mother.
Mother and daughter Gaynor and Rhiann Clarke, 68 and 31-years-old respectively, have now written, illustrated and published a picture book inspired by the story to raise money for Miller’s Ark.

The pair heard of the heartwarming story and decided to create the book to tell of the donkey's adventure.
The picture book follows Moon’s life from Astra’s perspective, beginning with Astra giving birth to Moon, and including the theft and her subsequent return.
The self-published book was written by Gaynor and illustrated by Rhiann, combining their passions for writing and drawing.
Rhiann said: “It really was a labour of love as this is our first-ever book and we had to learn all about formatting, design and printing, which was much harder than we had anticipated."
Gaynor said: "Rhiann and I always thought we would like to do a picture book when Moon went missing and was found, we thought it would make a nice story, and wouldn't it be nice to make some money for the charity."

The picture book was gifted to Miller’s Ark from Gaynor and Rhiann, with all profits from the sales going towards feeding the donkeys and foals on the farm throughout the winter.
Founder of Miller’s Ark, Elizabeth Miller, said: “Our feed prices have more than doubled due to the war in Ukraine, so we are incredibly grateful for this generosity and very moved by the book itself.”
The book is available to buy on Amazon or from Miller’s Ark. Elizabeth hopes the book will also soon be sold in bookshops locally.
