THE Basingstoke Buffalo are out for revenge this Sunday, October 21 (6.30pm), when they face the Guildford Phoenix on home ice, writes Graham Merry.
When these teams last met the Surrey side ran out 7-3 winners after scoring three times in the first 10 minutes.
Before the Phoenix clash, the previous night, the Buffalo start their first double header weekend of the season with a trip to league leaders Peterborough.
The Buffs will be without injured forward Scott Anda, but are hopeful that Josh Richards will be back in the line-up and Carl Graham will return for the Guildford game.
Talking ahead of weekend one of the Buffalo player coaches Paul Petts said: “It will be a tough weekend as we are playing two sides who are looking to finish one or two in the league, but it does mean we have nothing to lose and will give it our best shot.”
Last Saturday, the Buffs lost their Hampshire derby clash against the Solent Junior Devils 6-3 in Gosport.
Hallam Wilson gave the visitors the lead assisted by Paul Petts and Scott Anda, only for the home side to level things by the break.
Solent scored twice in the middle period, before Cam Buckle from Wilson and Petts narrowed the advantage to one going into the final 20 minutes.
The home side extended their lead after the break, but Buffalo man of the match Xander Robinson pulled a goal back.
The home side then scored twice to make sure of the victory.
Elsewhere in the club, the Basingstoke under-16 Bison made it four wins out of four, as they beat Guildford 5-1 last weekend.
