THE restaurant at a luxury hotel in Oakley has been recognised as among the best of the country’s food industry.
The Glasshouse Restaurant at Oakley Hall Hotel was announced as Restaurant of the Year South East at The Food Awards England 2023, which recognises and rewards the talent and hard work of the English food industry, highlighting the best restaurants, takeaways, pubs, cafes, and producers.
The ceremony took place on Monday, October 9 at The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre.
Glasshouse Restaurant head chef, Jacob Rowley, said: “We are absolutely delighted to earn this achievement. We had fierce competition this year so winning this award shows just how hard our wonderful team work and makes us all strive to continue creating the high-quality product that we offer.

"One of our key aims is to showcase the beautiful produce from our local suppliers in and around Hampshire, so we cannot express how elated we are to win this award on behalf of them also.”
In 2014 a major £4m restoration project saw Oakley Hall restored to a magnificent country house hotel. In 2018, the garden pavilion was built, and in 2020, the Glasshouse Restaurant was renovated.
The Food Awards England winners were selected based on the votes of the public, who nominated their favourite establishments across various categories, including Restaurant of the Year, Gastro Pub of the Year, Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year and Best Street Food amongst others.

The awards aimed to recognise excellence across various categories, showcase the best food establishment that England has to offer and promote the country’s industry, celebrating its diversity and quality.
An awards spokesperson said: “We received an overwhelming response from the public, who nominated some fantastic establishments across the country.
“These awards are a testament to the passion and dedication of the country’s food industry, and the hard work of those who provide exceptional culinary experiences to their customers. The winners should be proud of their achievement, as they represent the very best of England’s food scene, and are a true reflection of the quality and diversity of the industry.
“Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists, who have demonstrated excellence in their respective categories.”
