A NEW steam room and accessibility improvements will be made as part of a £200,000 refurbishment of Tadley Health and Fitness Centre.
The work, funded by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, will see major improvements to the ageing health suite, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
As part of this £200,000 upgrade project, the health suite will benefit from a new steam room, new benches in the sauna, accessibility improvements to the shower area, plus a range of other improvements to enhance the customer experience.

The spa pool will also be completely refurbished and deep cleaned.
Guy Baber, contract manager for Basingstoke and Deane Community Leisure Trust (BDCLT), said: “I would like to thank Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council for funding this project. It’s great to see a local council continuing to invest in the well-being of their communities, particularly during these challenging times. I would also like to express thanks to our loyal customers, who have waited a long time to hear this very welcome news about improvements to our health suite.”
In the past councillors have called on improvements to be made in the centre including the jacuzzi and the showers.

The borough council's cabinet member for sports, leisure and culture Cllr Kerry Morrow said: “The health suite facility at Tadley Health and Fitness Centre had become tired and in need of refurbishment and repair. The funding for this work will deliver new and improved facilities for customers to enhance their experience at the facility and support improvements to their wellbeing.”
BDCLT manages Tadley Health and Fitness Centre, Basingstoke Aquadrome and Basingstoke Golf Centre on behalf of the borough council.
While these improvements are taking place, all other areas of the centre will remain open for customers.
