A MOTORCYCLIST has died in a crash in Basingstoke and police have closed the road.
The collision, which happened at around 5.50pm on October 19, occurred in between Basingstoke and Tadley on Aldermaston Road.
It involved a black motorcycle and a silver Volkswagen and prompted a large emergency response.
The incident happened as heavy rain and bad weather hit the area from Storm Babet. A yellow weather warning for rain is currently in place.
Hampshire police said a man in his 50s, who was riding a motorbike, was pronounced dead at the scene.
They said that his next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area as Aldermaston Road has been closed from Bramley Road down to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.
A police spokesperson said: "Officers have launched an investigation and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to it, and in particular anyone who has dashcam footage which may assist our enquiries.

The road is expected to remain closed overnight.
