A NOISY Basingstoke neighbour has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 by the court following complaints of loud music, shouting and raised voices coming from his property.
Damion Price, of London Road, has been ordered to pay more than £1,150 in costs for breaching a noise abatement notice served to him by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in June.
During a hearing which was held at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 17, the court heard that an abatement notice was issued following complaints about loud music, shouting and raised voices coming from his property, the level of which was found to be a statutory nuisance.
The court also heard that Price pleaded guilty to the offence.

Cabinet member for residents’ services and housing Cllr Laura James said: “It is normal to hear some noise from your neighbours, and they from you, but obviously sometimes this can go beyond what is reasonable.
“This case sends out a clear message that, when it comes to noise, if people refuse to work with the council and ignore orders, they could not only lose their possessions but could also end up with a substantial financial penalty to pay.
“I would like to thank all of the people who helped the council to secure this conviction and would encourage others who are experiencing this kind of noise nuisance to have a look at our website where they will find useful advice.”

The council also had to obtain a forfeiture order to remove a smart TV and Bluetooth speaker from Price’s property after he continued to cause a nuisance to his neighbours.
Price was sentenced in his absence and magistrates fined him £120 plus a victim surcharge of £48 and £1,000 in costs, payable to the council.
The equipment was removed on Wednesday, July 19 and will not be returned.
