A LUXURY hotel in Hook is hosting an open-fire dining experience with a Nordic gastronomy expert.
Heckfield Place, in Heckfield, will celebrate autumn with a feast cooked over fire in an intimate evening event hosted at its restaurant Hearth.
The on-site restaurant celebrates slow and simple cooking, using the best produce available each day from Heckfield’s estate and its suppliers, to create menus centered around open-fire cooking.
It will welcome Swedish chef and restaurant manager Niklas Ekstedt on Wednesday, November 15 for an ‘Old Nordic’ dining experience.

The chef, who is one of the most pioneering names in Nordic gastronomy, will join Heckfield’s culinary director Skye Gyngell for the next instalment of its Hearth Supper series.
A spearhead in the progression of Stockholm’s exploding food scene, Ekstedt’s innovative recipes and techniques have had a profound impact on the culinary scene worldwide.
Ekstedt at The Yard – the chef’s first UK opening - brought his signature style of wood-fired ‘old Nordic’ cooking to the UK for the very first time, and to critical acclaim.
His signature style sees all dishes cooked on fire, using the smoke, ashes and soot of Scandinavian wood to give each dish a truly unique character.
On November 15, the duo will serve sharing-style dishes on the four long communal tables.
Guests can expect seafood to start the evening, with Ekstedt taking to the head of the tables to introduce his renowned, innovative approach to cooking.

Mains will be a lamb-inspired dish served alongside seasonal produce directly from the farm at Heckfield Place with homemade brioche.
Dessert will be individually plated, pairing sharp Scandinavian berries with rich flavours made from the dairy produced at Home Farm.
To complete the experience, the Heckfield team will pair each course with a wine.
With limited seats available, tickets are priced £95, including the three-course menu and welcome drink. More information and ticket sales can be found here.
