THE owner of a Basingstoke bakery has been named the Baker of the Year 2023 at the Baking Industry Awards, marking his second win in three years.
Tim Goodwin, who owns The Street Bakeshop in Old Basing, secured the prestigious title at a glittering ceremony held at Royal Lancaster in London on Tuesday, November 7.
At the awards celebrating excellence in the baking industry, the judges were effusive in their praise, unanimously declaring that Mr Goodwin had progressed "leaps and bounds" over the past 12 months.

An ecstatic Mr Goodwin said: "Winning the award for the second time and being the first bakery in history to do so is truly incredible.
"I couldn’t be more proud of the team and all the passion and love they put into our food on a daily basis. I can’t quite believe that a little bakery in Old Basing has managed to receive this national recognition twice… it blows my mind.
"We are full of pride, humility, and gratitude to all the lovely customers that come into the bakery daily and make this all possible. Thank you."
Established in 2020, The Street Bakeshop quickly became a local favourite, garnering positive reviews from customers who appreciate the bakery's dedication to hard work and attention to detail in crafting everything from scratch.

The Street Bakeshop celebrated the news with its customers on Facebook, expressing its excitement and gratitude.
The post read: "After an epic night of partying, we wake up humbled, proud, grateful. And shocked! Baker of the Year, for a second time!
"How is this even possible? Huge congratulations to all the winners and runners-up. The competition this year was so, so strong. It just gets better every year! What a special and passionate industry we are part of and what an epic team we represented last night."
