AN exciting new initiative that aims to 'ignite and rekindle' the town's love of music had a successful launch, with residents being invited to a second event.
As previously reported, the Basingstoke Music Initiative, a collaboration between Proteus and RB Music, was launched on Saturday, November 11 at the Proteus Creation Space.
The initiative is supported by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The fund is a central pillar of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6bn of funding for local investment by March 2025.
The launch event sold out, which was headlined by post-punk indie band Carsick, with special guests Masca, and support from Blockade and local band The Born Out of QMC The Detail.

The night was a huge success and created excitement among music enthusiasts.
Following on from the successful launch, the second gig offers a change of tempo and atmosphere but promises to be equally as inspiring.
BMI presents an evening with Norman and Corrie, a Scottish duo who fuse folk and jazz styles.
The evening will showcase the diversity of genres that the Basingstoke Music Initiative aims to support.
Their unique setup, featuring a drum kit, saxophone, and organ foot pedals, combined with expert sound design, results in music that’s both vibrant and firmly rooted.
Norman and Corrie will be at Proteus Creation Space on Wednesday, November 19, with doors opening at 7pm.
