MAGISTRATES have banned a Basingstoke drink driver who was more than double the legal limit from getting behind the wheel for more than a year.
Nicholas Hitching, of Hackwood Road, on October 15 drove a Nissan Qashqai, in Chesterfield Road in Basingstoke, with 88 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
During a hearing held at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 16 the 57-year-old pleaded guilty to the driving offence.

Magistrates banned Hitching from driving for 18 months and ordered him to pay a fine of £300.
Court costs of £85 and a surcharge fee of £120 must be paid.
