A BASINGSTOKE cancer charity has been declared Charity of the Year at an inaugural awards.
The Ark Cancer Charity was awarded the title in the Health and Wellbeing category at the Greenham Trust Charity Awards in November.
The charity has a wellbeing centre based at the radiotherapy unit at Basingstoke hospital, offering complementary therapies and counselling services to cancer outpatients from Hampshire.

It strives to alleviate difficult physical symptoms of cancer such as pain, fatigue, nausea, hot flushing, lymphedema, and anxiety, as well as support with emotional wellbeing to contribute to an enhancement in overall wellbeing and quality of life.
Representatives from Ark Cancer Charity were joined by more than 70 charities at the Corn Exchange, in Newbury for the awards.
Merv Rees OBE, a surgeon and Ark Cancer Charity trustee, expressed gratitude at being part of the inaugural Greenham Trust Charity Awards.
He also emphasised the charity's commitment to its foundational principle, "for the people, by the people," with a mission dedicated to enhancing the physical and mental wellbeing of NHS cancer patients through supportive interventions throughout their cancer journey.
He extended sincere thanks to the Greenham Trustees for their invaluable support and endorsement of the charity's mission.
