DETAILS for part of the major redevelopment of Basingstoke Golf Course including nearly 500 homes, sports pitches and allotments have been unveiled.
Bloor Homes has submitted a reserved matters application for phase three of its 1,000 home development on the site of the former golf course, in Winchester Road.
The developer was given outline planning permission for the site in March 2021, it is now looking for permission for its plan for the southern part of the land.

Following permission being given changes have been made to phase three after concerns were raised that there would be 'insufficient areas of open space or landscape features', the allotments and pitches arrangement were considered to be 'awkward and constrained' and the link between the neighbourhood park should be enhanced and widened - to name just a few.
In the latest application, Bloor Homes has stated that a series of open spaces or pocket parks have been introduced into the southern part of the site, and the link between the neighbourhood park and sports pitches has been 'widened to incorporate some landscaping and a footpath providing a green corridor'.
This part of the development will comprise of 494 homes, including 111 four-bedroom, 222 three-bedroom, 125 two-bed and 36 one-bedroom homes. Of those, 180 are affordable properties - 118 social rental units and 62 shared ownership units.

A design document within the application states: "The proposed development will create housing choice and new amenity spaces for the existing and new community whilst improving public access across the site and to the wider pedestrian network.
"The overall Basingstoke site delivers a range of family housing from one and two bedroom apartments to larger three and four bedroom detached dwellings. The proposals will help deliver a ‘place’ that will be in synergy with its surroundings."
Besides the plan for 1,000 homes, the redevelopment will also see construction of a retail centre, a community building, a day nursery, sports facilities, open space and associated infrastructure.
A plan to redevelop the golf course into a housing estate first came to public light when Bloor Homes launched a public consultation in 2019, that drew much criticism.
It had plans for allocation of gypsy and traveller pitches at the site, which was objected by many residents.
However after changes, the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council approved the outline planning application in 2021, paving way for one of the largest housing developments in Basingstoke.
