SHOPPERS in Basingstoke have noticed that Aldi has introduced new ‘security’ measures at its checkouts.
The budget chain has installed signs at the checkouts at the Aldi in St Michael’s Retail Park, in The Harrow Way, asking customers to place all their shopping bags on the till belt.

Customers have been advised by staff that the new signs are a security measure, introduced to prevent shoppers from stealing items by leaving them inside shopping bags in their trolley, or accidentally leaving them in there.
It is not known whether the signs have been installed at all Aldi stores, or just the one at St Michael’s Retail Park.
Aldi has been asked for further information.
