A BASINGSTOKE kebab van has been given a one-star food hygiene rating following an inspection.
Mr Kebab, based in Castons Yard at the Top of Town, received the food hygiene rating following an inspection on Friday, November 17, 2023.
Mr Kebab was given an overall hygiene rating of one out of five, meaning 'major improvement is necessary'.
The food safety officer rated the business for its food hygiene after considering the hygienic handling of food, the cleanliness and condition of the building and facilities, and confidence in the establishment to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat.

The officer found that the management of food safety, which includes having systems of checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat; evidence that staff know about food safety; and confidence that standards will be maintained in the future required 'major improvement'.
The hygienic handling of food, which can include preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage, was also found to need improvement.
The cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building which includes appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control was found to be 'generally satisfactory'.
A spokesperson for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council said: "We can confirm that Mr Kebab was rated ‘one – major improvement necessary’ under the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme following an inspection on November 17, 2023.
"Our environmental health team is working with this business to ensure that the deficiencies found at the time of the inspection are rectified. Under the terms of the food hygiene rating scheme administered by the Food Standards Agency the business must keep its current rating for a minimum of three months before they can apply for a re-rating visit.
"You can verify the ratings of food businesses by visiting the food hygiene ratings website at ratings.food.gov.uk."
