A BASINGSTOKE college principal said he is “incredibly humbled and honoured” to be awarded in the New Year Honours List.
Anthony Bravo, principal at Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT), in Worting Road, has been recognised with an OBE for services in Further Education.
The recognition acknowledges his exceptional contributions to education and the Basingstoke community.

Mr Bravo has served as principal at BCoT for more than 15 years, during which time he has overseen a period of remarkable growth and success for the college, focusing on partnership, community, income generation and workforce development.
Speaking about the OBE Mr Bravo said: “Every day I say I have the best job in the world. I am incredibly humbled and honoured to receive this award."
He added: "It is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all the staff at BCoT and our board of governors. I am so proud of the positive impact we have made on the lives of our students and the wider community."

Under Mr Bravo’s leadership, BCoT has achieved an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating for personal development, attitudes and behaviours and adult learning programmes; introduced innovate and industry-relevant courses and programs that equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the modern workforce; forged strong partnerships with local businesses and organisations; and integrated industry-relevant technology into curricula.
Chair of the board of governors, Mike Howe, said “This well-deserved OBE is a fitting tribute to Anthony's outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to education. He is an inspiration to students, staff, and the wider community.
“Anthony has been a vocal advocate for further education, serving on national advisory boards and committees, and actively promoting the value of vocational and technical skills. He is a highly respected figure in the education sector, and his expertise and insights are sought after by policymakers and educators alike. The College is proud to see him receive such an honour.”
