Having used the roundabout at Brighton Hill a few times, I think if everyone knows which lane to take then all is fine.
However, having traffic lights initiates the stampede. When green shows, drivers who are not in the right lane make their bid to cut across others and this is dangerous.
As for the cost, it is staggering. Basically, the roundabout has a new lane or two and a few traffic lights and facilities for cyclists and pedestrians and this has cost us £20m pounds!
The roundabout worked well before, with just the odd delay at peak times.
Hampshire County Council is supposed to be short of cash. How can they justify spending that amount?
