THE Basingstoke Buffalo will be looking to make the final of the Wilkinson Cup this weekend, but standing in their way will be the Peterborough Phantoms, writes Graham Merry.
They set up a semi-final clash with the Herd, thanks to a 2-1 win at Haringey last weekend.
The first game of the semi-final is in Peterborough on Saturday night, before the return is in Basingstoke on Sunday which has a 6.30pm face-off.
When the Buffalo travelled to Peterborough earlier in the season, they were narrowly beaten 4-2 with Xander Robinson and Cam Buckle netting their goals.
In that game joint player/coach Paul Petts was missing from the line-up but will be back this weekend and they are also hoping Carl Graham will be available as well.
The other Wilkinson Cup semi-final is between the Guildford Phoenix and Haringey Huskies.
In other news, the fine form of Buffalo netminder Morgan Parsons, who picked up the man of the match award in the last two games for Basingstoke, has been rewarded.
The goalie was given the opportunity to be backup cageman for National League outfit the Bees against Hull last Sunday, who play two leagues above the Buffalo.
