A KEBAB shop in Basingstoke has been given a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating following an inspection.
The Charcoal Grill, in New Street, which serves a variety of food including fried chicken, burgers, wraps kebabs, and pizzas, was told ‘major improvement' was necessary after it was inspected on December 15.
Food safety officers rate food hygiene by handling of food, the cleanliness and condition of the building and facilities, and the officer's confidence in the establishment.

Handling of food at The Charcoal Grill, which includes the preparation, cooking, and storage of food, was found to require improvement.
The cleanliness and condition of the facilities and buildings, which includes assessment of the layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control, also required improvement.
The inspection also found that major improvements were needed to ensure that checks are in place at the kebab shop to ensure that the food sold or served is safe to eat, including improvements in staff’s knowledge of food safety.
The Gazette contacted The Charcoal Grill however it did not wish to comment.
