HARTLEY Wintney progressed into the semi-finals of the Aldershot Senior Cup thanks to a penalty shootout win over Tadley Calleva, writes David Graham.
Defences dominated throughout the game with very few clear-cut openings.
Tadley edged the first half and posed a threat via the long throw-ins from Brad Neal.
On 12 minutes a long throw-in found Cusman Darboe who saw his shot go just wide. Six minutes before half time an in-swinging corner on the left from Jordan Goater hit the Row crossbar.
Hartley came into the game in the second period and went ahead on 57 minutes.
A corner on the right from Mason Obeng found its way to George Wallace on the edge of the penalty area and his low shot found the corner of the net. (1-0)
Having toiled to gain the lead the Row gifted an equaliser two minutes later. An unforced error from young goalkeeper Adam Melville allowed Connor Thorne to run the ball into an empty net. (1-1)
On 81 minutes a corner from Obeng found Wallace who saw his close-range header saved by Craig Atkinson in the Tadley goal.
The match was decided by penalties. Wallace, Payce, Jallow, Gavin and Obeng were successful for Hartley. Rodgers, Charsley and French were successful for Tadley Calleva.
Hartley won 5-3 on penalties.
