HERE'S why you may have had to take a detour after a major road was closed in Basingstoke today.
Churchill Way West, which runs parallel to Basingstoke Leisure Park, was closed in the morning of Tuesday, February 20, with crews on site repairing a number of patches along the carriageway.
A contribution to the Basingstoke Gazette's Camera Club showed contractors at work, patching the tarmac near the slip road entrances and exits near KFC and McDonald's.

Traffic was being diverted towards Grafton Way and Worting Road to get around the temporary closure.
It is not known how long the road will be closed for.
