ACCESS Self Storage has launched its yearly Easter egg campaign, inviting Basingstoke residents to contribute chocolate eggs to a charitable cause.
The target is to cram a vacant storage unit – similar in size to a traditional red telephone box - with Easter eggs.
This nine-foot by three-foot unit can accommodate approximately 200 boxed supermarket Easter eggs. Any extra would then extend to a larger storage unit.
Residents and customers have helped donate thousands of Easter eggs since the collection first commenced in 2011. In 2024, every one of the 54 Access Self Storage facilities across the nation will participate in the collection.

If all the stores fill the storage containers, the campaign is set to assemble an impressive 11,800 Easter eggs. These will be dispersed among charitable causes, both locally and throughout the UK.
Staff members have already started amassing eggs, and donations are welcome at the store from March 1 to March 25.
Since the premiere of the Access Self Storage Easter Egg Appeal ten years ago, the company has received donations of over 8,000 chocolate eggs given to several UK charities. This year carries the ambitious goal of doubling this record.
Stuart Hillman, store manager, Access Self Storage Basingstoke said: “Everyone deserves a treat this Easter and we’d love to fill our storage unit with Easter Eggs. It couldn’t be easier to donate, eggs can be dropped off at any Access Self Storage store, at any time."

Jan Albert Fourie, general manager of Operations at Access Self Storage said: "It’s so important for our store teams to work closely with their local communities and to be able to help those that will really benefit from this collection.
"Our aim is to fill our storage units over and over whilst this campaign remains open and if we can collect 12,000 Easter Eggs this year, we know the teams and our charity partners will be so grateful. If every customer donates just one Easter Egg throughout this campaign we can smash our target and make a huge difference.”
For individuals wishing to make a contribution, the drop-off point is at Access Self Storage, Slington House, Rankine Road, Basingstoke, RG24 8PH.
