A DOG that was searching for a new home, after coming into RSPCA's care as a stray, has been adopted.

In December RSPCA Basingstoke and Andover appealed to find a forever home for Doberman, Ralph.

The two-year-old dog came into the charity's care as a stray and was microchipped, however, the owner registered hadn't owned Ralph since it was a puppy and did not know the dog's current owner.

Now, the RSPCA has announced that Ralph went to its forever home in Southampton on Saturday, March 2 and is settling in with its new family.

The dog will start further training with the Southampton couple, which Ralph could not receive whilst in a foster home.

RSPCA Basingstoke and Andover volunteer Sarah Biro said: "Although Ralph's foster home was very sad to see him go, they are now pleased that all the hard work with training has paid off and he now has his new, loving forever home."

Sarah has volunteered with the Basingstoke and Andover branch of the charity for 16 years, providing vital support and a foster home to animals in the area.

The branch is run by a committee of volunteers and relies on public donations and fundraising to support its animal welfare activities.

These include animal re-homing, provision of limited financial assistance and the promotion of responsible pet ownership through emergency neutering and microchipping campaigns.

If you are unable to commit to rehoming an animal permanently, then fostering could be ideal.

A spokesperson for RSPCA Basingstoke and Andover said: "Fostering can be a highly rewarding experience which also enables us to provide our animals with a temporary loving home whilst we find them their new owner. We need foster homes for all sorts of reasons and lengths of time."
