COMMUNITY and voluntary groups in Basingstoke and Deane can now apply for grants to strengthen their organisations.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has relaunched its Strengthening Communities Grant Scheme with a pot of more than £150,000 available to organisations, including community and voluntary groups, to apply for grants of up to £15,000.
The grants can be used to support a range of activities such as improving efficiency through better use of technology, increasing volunteer numbers, upskilling staff and volunteers, expanding successful services or developing new services, where it helps make the organisation more resilient.

Since its launch three years ago, the scheme has provided funding to more than 40 different organisations including community associations, arts organisations, a scout group, a local hospice and charities and community groups.
Cabinet member for communities, partnerships and inclusion, Cllr John McKay, said: “We value the contribution of the borough’s community and voluntary sector and we are extremely lucky to have so many individuals and groups who strive to do so much for their communities.
“Since the grant scheme was launched over 40 different organisations have benefitted from this council funding to help deliver services and activities to local residents. We see the value this work brings to meet the needs of our communities, therefore we have again committed to continue this grant scheme for the coming year.
