VANS thought to belong to a car rental company are causing a ‘major nuisance’ to drivers by parking on a public road.
The vans, which are thought to belong to Europcar, in Sherrington Way near Viables, have started parking in Lister Road, causing tailbacks and, at peak times, preventing traffic from turning into Lister Road from the Harrow Way.
Cllr Andy Konieczko, Liberal Democrat councillor for Brighton Hill and cabinet member for strategic planning and infrastructure, said although the company is not doing any illegal by parking on the road, it is causing a nuisance for drivers and described it as ‘inconsiderate’.

He added: “Although the vehicles aren’t breaking any traffic laws, it’s clear that they’re inconsiderately parked and causing a major nuisance to anyone driving in the aera.

“If it was the odd van on the occasional day, then I think residents would be willing to cut Europcar some slack. However, a number of large vehicles are being parked here regularly.
“I would have hoped that a major chain like Europcar would recognise the impact that its actions are having and be more considerate.”
