A WETHERSPOONS pub in Basingstoke has been handed a five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
The Angel, in Festival Place, received the rating 'very good' following a visit from hygiene inspectors on March 26.
Food safety officers rate food hygiene by the handling of food, the cleanliness and condition of the building and facilities, and the officer's confidence in the establishment.

The handling of food at the pub, which includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage, was found to be 'good'.
The inspection found that 'very good' systems or checks are in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, including staff’s knowledge of food safety and the inspector’s confidence that standards will be maintained in the future.
Inspectors also found that the cleanliness of condition of the facilities and building, including the layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control, is 'good'.
Manager at the Angel, Jo Stevens-Yule, said: "We are delighted that we have gained the top rating and I'm sure our customers will welcome the news too.
"Standards of hygiene at the pub are of paramount importance.
"All of the staff work hard to ensure that the pub offers its customers the highest levels of hygiene at all times, and we are delighted that our efforts have been recognised with a five-star rating."
