A MAIN road in Basingstoke is expected to remain partly closed until next week.
As previously reported, part of Popley Way is currently closed and traffic is being stopped from accessing the road from Aldermaston Roundabout due to emergency roadworks.
The Gazette asked SGN, the gas distribution company behind the works, for an update.
Waseem Hanif, a spokesperson for the company, said: "We’re carrying out emergency work in Popley Way, Basingstoke, to improve the gas pressure in our network. This essential work involves increasing the size of the gas service to Apollo Hotel.

"To ensure everyone’s safety, we have closed Popley Road one-way, for motorists entering Popley Way from Aldermaston Roundabout. A signed diversion route is in place. Motorists exiting Popley Way onto the roundabout are unaffected.
"All going well, we hope to complete our work, restore the road surface and reopen Popely Way as normal by Wednesday 1 May.
"We apologise for any disruption and would like to thank anyone affected for your patience while we carry out this urgent work."
