A BASINGSTOKE family is mourning the death of a dad, granddad, and brother, who was killed in a crash.
Melvyn Charles Cole died in a crash on April 17 while driving home from work in Bridgewater, Somerset. He was 63.
Originally from Gloucester, Melvyn lived in Basingstoke for a period before moving to Somerset in 2001.
He maintained close ties with his family in Basingstoke, including his son, brother, and five grandchildren.

His son, Kieran, described him as a 'friendly and helpful man who always went out of his way to help others in need'.
"He touched the lives of everyone he met," Kieran said, adding that his father loved his family dearly.
"He wouldn't let anybody struggle. He also used to come down and see his grandkids fortnightly."
Melvyn previously worked as a welder fabricator in Basingstoke before transitioning to a warehouse operative role in Somerset.
His family is now asking for a little bit of help to honour Melvyn in the way in which he deserves and help them lighten the load of expenses.
