KINGSCLERE Rugby Football Club (RFC) held a successful 10-a-side rugby tournament on Saturday at the Fieldgate Centre in memory of their former player and captain, Steve Damiral, who died last year.
The charity event raised a total of £1,400 for St Michael's Hospice in Basingstoke, at the request of Steve's family.
Teams from Alresford, Chineham, Kingsclere, Kingsclere Veterans, and Thatcham participated in the day's matches. Chineham emerged victorious, defeating Kingsclere in the final.

The winning team received a shield and each player a medal. Steve's family also donated an engraved tankard in his memory.
The event wasn't just about rugby. Geoff Henry, an ambassador for St Michael's Hospice, gave a talk about the hospice's work and its importance to the community.
