A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being allegedly assaulted in Basingstoke.

Police were called to a bus stop in Gastons Wood, Reading Road, by the ambulance service to attend to a woman, at 12.10pm.

The woman reported that she had been assaulted earlier that morning, Wednesday, May 15. She was taken to hospital for minor injuries and has since been discharged.

Police are currently investigating the incident.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.10pm on 15 May by the ambulance service to a woman at a bus stop on Gastons Wood, Reading Road, A33, who had minor injuries and was reporting she had been assaulted earlier that day.

"The woman received treatment in hospital and has since been discharged.

"This remains under investigation."
