A POP-up shop encouraging people to swap or donate clothing to help reduce waste going to landfill will open at Festival Place next month.
Set up by the Viables Community Association, the Basingstoke Community Wardrobe encourages people to swap, donate or give a donation to buy good quality used or new clothing, shoes and accessories.
Based at the Roger Morris Community Centre in Eastrop, the wardrobe aims to reduce waste and keep clothing affordable by asking people to donate clothing in good clean condition, swap like-for-like items and buy items from the wardrobe for a small donation.
The pop-up shop at Festival Place will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2.

Gemma Simpkins, of Viables Community Association, said: “This pop-up is a first for us, and we are so thrilled to be given the opportunity by Festival Place to showcase Basingstoke Community Wardrobe and what we have to offer.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to provide affordable clothing to a wider audience, and we currently have a few prom dresses and suits that we are selling for a minimum donation of £10.”
The Community Wardrobe will be held in the unit opposite Starbucks from 9am-5pm on Saturday, June 1, and 10am-4pm on Sunday, June 2.
