A 76-year-old man is due in court this week for an alleged election offence following council elections in Alton.
Benjamin Hamlin of Church Lane, Farnham will face a charge of causing or permitting a false statement to appear in a nomination paper, following postal requisition.

Police received a report on Tuesday, September 26 that a false statement or declaration was made before a council election in the Alton area earlier in 2023.
The alleged offence is a breach of section 65(a) of the Representation of the People Act 1983.
Mr Hamlin is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 23.
