FANS of Basingstoke Town FC will be treated to a "true away day experience" as the team heads up to Manchester for pre-season.

'Stoke will make the four-hour journey in the coming months, as they prepare to take on FC United of Manchester.

The match will take place at Broadhurst Park on Saturday, July 27, kicking off at 3pm. Fans will be pleased to know that the fixture coincides with FC United's annual beer festival, complete with live music.

A proud member of the Northern Premier League, FC United of Manchester play at Broadhurst Park, a venue which is notable as the UK’s first new ground funded entirely by a supporter-owned club.

With a 4,400 capacity, the stadium offers covered areas on all sides, a spacious standing section behind the goal, and seating in the main stand.

While perhaps not the biggest 'United' in Manchester, the team shares similar values to 'Stoke, as a community-based club.

Born from a protest against Malcolm Glazer’s takeover of Manchester United, FC United stands as a testament to the power of supporter ownership.

FC United was established by a group of dedicated individuals, determined to create a club that adhered to the 'Our Club, Our Rules' principle.

This member-owned, democratic, and not-for-profit organisation was created by Manchester United fans to ensure football remained accessible to all in Greater Manchester, encouraging youth participation both on and off the field.

'Stoke chairman, Jack Miller, said: "We’ve been working on this for quite some time.

"We’ve always wanted to give our supporters a true away day experience, and this match finally makes that possible.

"While there’s no expectation for everyone to travel, we know our ‘Stoke fans’ dedication, and we’re sure many will make the trip up the motorway.

"It promises to be a memorable weekend, celebrating two clubs with such passionate support."
