BASINGSTOKE College of Technology (BCoT) has teamed up with the Rotary Club of Basingstoke to support the upcoming Family Football Festival.

The event, which will take place on Saturday, July 6, from 11am to 5pm at the Winklebury Football Complex, will see a host of fun and games for families to participate in.

From five-a-side football to penalty shootout challenges, football trivia contests and even a raffle, the free event promises to bring the community together through "the power of football".

BCoT has teamed up with the Rotary Club to assist with the event, lending support and agreeing to put its brand on the official memorabilia shirt commemorating the event.

The college has also donated a prize for a lucky winner of the raffle draw which will take place on the day.

Chief host and Rotary Club President, Tunde Adelakun, said: "We are inviting others to join this cause. BCoT has blazed the trail but there are openings for others.

"We are happy about our association with these big institutions, aligning the ideals of Rotary with some of the biggest names that draw the biggest audience in the town is no mean feat.

"BCoT and Basingstoke Gazette are backing us, and we are in talks with other big names too. This certainly means there is something good going on with the Rotary Club in Basingstoke."

Speaking to the Gazette previously, Tunde said: "Rotary wants to align with the football season and capitalise on the football fever - the date we've chosen is on purpose - it's the date of the quarter-finals of the European Championships, and hopefully people will be able to enjoy this day and go home and watch England in the tournament."

A number of organisations are already involved with the event, including Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Hampshire FA, however Tunde is on the lookout for more partners and volunteers who can help with the event, adding: "We need volunteers who will be able to spread the word and get involved".

Organisers are looking for volunteers to help things run smoothly, whether you have a spare pair of hands, a background in football coaching, or if you are a charity that would like to play a part, you can get involved by emailing newagerotarybasingstoke@mail.com.
