DENISE Leigh, a beloved performer at the annual Battle Proms Picnic Concert in Newbury, took her talents to a national stage this weekend, appearing on Britain's Got Talent alongside her husband Stefan.
The talented couple, who are both visually impaired, shared their story with the judges, revealing that Denise had recently been diagnosed with cancer.
Despite the challenges, Denise's positive spirit shone through, first with her humour, and then with a stunning rendition of Climb Ev'ry Mountain from The Sound of Music.
Accompanied by Stefan on piano, the duo brought the house down, receiving a standing ovation from both the 4,000-strong audience and the judges. Each judge praised their performance, with Bruno Tonioli visibly moved by their positive outlook.

Simon Cowell, notoriously critical, said: "You know, without people like you this show is nothing. I’m so happy that you made the decision to come on."
All four judges voted a resounding yes, sending Denise and Stefan through to the next round.
Back in Newbury, the Battle Proms team expressed their excitement for Denise and Stefan's success.
Event director Adam Slough said: "We've always known Denise is amazing, and we're thrilled to see her share her talent with the nation alongside Stefan."
Each year Denise brings a touch of operatic magic to the open-air concert, with beautiful renditions of much-loved pieces, and brings crowd to their feet as she leads the "Last night of the proms" style finale.

Fans can look forward to seeing Denise perform Climb Ev'ry Mountain live again at the Battle Proms Highclere Castle concert on August 3.
The audience will also be treated to the gorgeous vintage harmonies of the Battle Proms Belles warming up the crowd with their live band, a horseback Cavalry through the Ages show plus breathtaking displays from the British Army’s world-famous Red Devils parachutists and the legendary Grace Spitfire.
The evening will culminate with the dramatic Battle Proms signature piece, Beethoven’s Battle Symphony, performed with 193 cannons providing a thunderous percussion, before Denise leads the crowd in a jubilant flag-waving, sing-along finale with all the traditional ‘last night of the proms’ favourites under a sky of dazzling fireworks.
