MORE than 700 young people gathered at Dummer Down Farm last month for a spectacular celebration of Scouting excellence.
Youngsters from Scouting in Basingstoke East, along with some from Basingstoke West and Girlguiding in Basingstoke, gathered for BEASTLY 2024, on Saturday, May 18.
This year's event was a resounding success, showcasing the best of Scouting through a wide array of activities and entertainment.
The event was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests including the mayor of Basingstoke and Maria Miller, who joined the celebration, adding a touch of official recognition to the day's proceedings.

A Scouts spokesperson said: “BEASTLY is renowned for its engaging and diverse range of activities, and 2024 was no exception. Attendees enjoyed over 70 different activities that catered to a variety of interests and skill levels. Highlights included crafts, a climbing wall, shooting, VR games, an assault course, and inflatables. Each activity was designed to challenge, entertain, and engage the young people, fostering a spirit of adventure and community.”
A central feature of this year's BEASTLY was the main stage, generously sponsored by Lamb Brooks Solicitors. The stage hosted a series of performances, including JunkJodie and James Ketchell, and provided a platform for young people to renew their Scouting promises and receive well-deserved awards. The stage not only entertained but also reinforced the values and achievements that Scouting promotes.
As the day transitioned into evening, the focus shifted to the adult volunteers who tirelessly support Scouting throughout the year.

A special social evening was held in their honour, featuring an evening meal followed by entertainment from Alex Tyler, a talented local musician. This segment of the event offered a moment of relaxation and camaraderie, recognising the invaluable contributions of the volunteers who make events like BEASTLY possible.
The spokesperson added: “BEASTLY 2024 was more than just an event; it was a testament to the power of Scouting, the spirit of adventure, and the enduring impact of Scouting on young lives. The organisers extend their heartfelt thanks to all the participants, volunteers, sponsors, and guests who contributed to making this day unforgettable”
