A BASINGSTOKE man caught drink driving in the town has been disqualified and fined.

Andrei-Ionut Toma, 47, of Cumberland Avenue, drove a motor vehicle on Winchester Road in Basingstoke on March 1 when the alcohol content in his blood was above the prescribed limit. 

Toma had 134mg of alcohol in his blood. The legal limit is 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. 

Following a guilty plea, Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court disqualified him from driving for nine months.

He was ordered to pay a £329 fine, £85 costs, and £132 surcharge.
