TWO school boys with ‘little legs but big ambitions’ have completed an incredible challenge to run 21 miles in 12 days to raise money for a new play area at their school.
Brothers Patrick Fox Lawman, nine, and Kit Spike Lawman, seven, pledged to run 100 times around Cuckoo Meadow in North Waltham during the May half term, managing to raise £550 for North Waltham Primary School.
Villagers got behind the boys’ efforts by sponsoring them and cheering them on during their daily runs, with money raised going towards a school-wide fundraiser to create a new play area.

Schoolchildren were challenged by The Friends of North Waltham – a charity organisation fundraising for the school – to come up with unique, fun and exciting ways to collectively raise £5,000 throughout May for the new play space.
Patrick and Kit responded with enthusiasm, joining their classmates to raise money for the project, with others taking part in fundraising initiatives including sponsored silences and tap dancing.
Lindsey Lawman, Patrick and Kit’s mum, said: "We're incredibly proud of the determination the boys have shown in their fundraising efforts.
"We have lived in the village less than two years, but we feel like we've been here forever, and a lot of that is down to the people of North Waltham Primary School. The teachers are warm and engaging, and encourage friendships between children across all years, making it a welcoming, happy school.
“The Friends of North Waltham do an incredible amount of work raising funds throughout the year to provide enrichment activities and resources for all the children to enjoy. All of this means our boys are thriving, and this is their way of saying thank you."

Steph Sarney, acting headteacher at North Waltham Primary School, said: “It is very exciting and rewarding to hear how the children of North Waltham are choosing to raise money for our Mega Money May mission. It is such a long way for Patrick and Kit to run at their age- I can't even run a mile!
“Incredible amounts of money have been raised by individuals already. The children's remarkable passion and motivation in the fundraiser exemplify their creativity, determination and commitment to making a difference. Their dedication not only raises vital funds but also unites our school community in a shared purpose.
“I couldn't be prouder of everyone's efforts so far. A huge thank you also has to go to our incredible team of parents on the Friends committee who continue to go above and beyond at raising money for the school year after year."
The School Council will now gather ideas for the new play area to plan the space which will eventually open for the whole school to use.
