A MOTHER who lost more than six stone by following Slimming World is excited to launch a new group in Oakridge.
Simone Holman joined Slimming World in May 2023 with an ambition to be able to walk round theme parks with her daughter, Jess, without becoming tired and out of breath.
She initially started her weight loss journey online but soon attended a group in person, after realising she needed and support and motivation from others.

The 43-year-old said: “My motivation for joining Slimming World was my amazing daughter. She loves theme parks and roller coasters and I wanted to be able to walk around these theme parks with her without become tired and out of breath. I also needed to know I could ride a roller coaster without the fear of needing to do ‘the walk of shame’ if the harness didn’t fit.
“At the start of my Slimming World journey, we used to go to theme parks and within a few hours my ankles, knees and back hurt and I used to have to wear thin jumpers to minimise the risk of the harnesses not closing. We visited her favourite theme park at Easter 2024, and it was a completely different experience for us both.”
At the start of May, Simone reached her target weight having lost six stone 8lbs. She continued: “I was amazed how easy the food optimising plan is to follow and how you can still eat out and have your favourite foods without ever going hungry.”
Simone is now getting ready to share her Slimming World knowledge and success by relaunching the group at Oakridge Hall for All on Monday, June 17 from 5.30-6.45pm and introducing another group on the same day from 7pm-8.15pm.
“Slimming World has given me my life back and for that I will be forever grateful,” Simone said.
“I am confident that as a Slimming World consultant I will be able to share this experience with you and support you to follow the same path I have done and feel the way I feel.”
