BASINGSTOKE Golf Club will officially open following a huge £15m regeneration project which promises to turn it into "one of the premier golf venues in the South East".
Plans have been outlined for a phased reopening period that will begin in June, as the venue, located at the former Dummer Golf Club, tees off on its journey to a full reopening.
The club, which first opened for play in 1907, relocated to its new site in Dummer in 2021 before development on a new 18-hole championship course began last year.
It is very rare today particularly that a project like this can happen. Golf has been booming since the pandemic, but golf clubs all over the country have been closing.

The sale of the old course, was able to provide funding which has been invested into the new development.
The development, crafted by Weller Designs, sees a complete overhaul of the Dummer course, with the new downland course defined by a series of thrilling and undulating holes that sweep across rolling fairways, plus a number of strategically placed water hazards adding to the test.
The project is made complete with a 'state of the art' clubhouse and driving range.

The vision of the Golf Club is to make it into one of the premier golf venues in the South East, competing with other top names in the region.
The club want to make it clear that the revamp is not just the Dummer course with a bit of a refurb, but rather a whole new project. Basingstoke Golf Club, now on the land of Dummer, has be completely reimagined, redesigned and redeveloped.
While the full reopening of the club is pencilled in for September 2025, a soft opening of nine holes on the new course will take place in late June, with a full 18 holes expected to be in play by the end of the year.
The club believe that this is a big coup for Basingstoke and there is no other golf venue like this in the area.
The clubhouse, which will be open to the public as well as golf club members, is due to open in August before work begins on the new driving range which will incorporate teaching and ball-tracking technology – along with a short-game area and large putting green.
David Green, general manager at Basingstoke Golf Club, said: “This is one of the most exciting golf projects in the UK, and it is our shared desire to ensure we develop one of the southeast’s finest member-focused golf clubs with the quality of facilities that match the investment.
“Basingstoke has always been considered one of the region’s most established clubs, but we feel with the substantial investment that is being made we can move it to the next level and beyond.
"This will give the existing members a unique club that will not only have one of the county’s best courses – which will be hugely playable for all abilities – but also include a number of practice and teaching amenities where they can really get the very best from their games and membership. These teaching facilities will also help to attract new and younger players to the game."
