FIRE crews rescued a person who was trapped inside a car after a crash on the M3.

The crash happened at around 9am this morning, Saturday, June 8, on the M3 Southbound between Junctions 8 and 9.

Crews from Basingstoke and Odiham stabilised the vehicle and assisted to trapped individual who police say suffered "serious injuries."

The individual was handed over to paramedics from the South Central Ambulance Service for treatment.

This morning at 9am, firefighters from Basingstoke and Odiham responded to a road vehicle collision on the hard shoulder of the M3 northbound, between junctions 8 and 9.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service told the Gazette:

"This morning at 9am, firefighters from Basingstoke and Odiham responded to a road vehicle collision on the hard shoulder of the M3 northbound, between junctions 8 and 9.

"The crews worked to stabilise the vehicle and secure the scene. They assisted one individual who was trapped inside the vehicle. The casualty was then handed over to paramedics from the South Central Ambulance Service.

"Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) left the scene after receiving the stop message at 11am."
