A MAN and a woman have been charged with shoplifting and assaulting a police officer after an incident in Basingstoke.
Police received reports that various items, including alcohol and cosmetic products worth £52.10 were stolen from Tesco Express on Carpenters Down on June 7.
Officers attended the scene and arrested a man and woman. One officer was assaulted, however, no injuries have been reported.

Karl Boness, 35, of no fixed abode, was charged with assault by beating of an emergency worker, theft from a shop and escape from lawful custody.
Joanne Church, 41, of no fixed abode, was charged with assault by beating of an emergency worker, theft from a shop, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and using threatening behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress.
They are due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today on Monday, June 10.
