VISITORS to a Basingstoke shopping centre are still benefitting from free parking because of ‘technical issues’ with the machines.

As previously reported, Festival Place advised customers on May 31 that parking would be free over the weekend but would return ‘to our normal rates on Monday’.

However, 11 days later the parking has remained free in the shopping centre, and Festival Place has now confirmed that it is down to problems with the machines, and not a generous giveaway.

A statement from Festival Place said: “We’re still experiencing one or two technical issues with our parking machines so we’ve extended free parking at FP.

“We’ll let you know as soon as this has been sorted, but for now enjoy parking on us!”
