Three prominent club cricketers - two from Basingstoke & North Hants and a third from hosts Lymington - face potential bans after being charged with on-field disciplinary breaches in Saturday's heated ECB Southern Premier League match at the Sports Ground.

Basingstoke batsman/wicket keeper George Metzger has currently been hit with a Level 4 charge - the most serious sanction under the ECB Disciplinary regulations - following an altercation with Lymington gloveman Robbie Hemmings, who received a Level 2 penalty.

Basingstoke all-rounder Brad Neal was the third player to be sanctioned - for dissent after being given out lbw late in his side's successful run chase.

The visiting Bountymen won by two wickets after chasing down Lymington's 197-8 to secure a second Premier Division victory, behavioural issues also having cost them five penalty runs.

An incident in the 13th over of the Basingstoke reply with the visitors two wickets down lit the fuse.

Metzger, the former Hampshire Academy player batting at four, had begun to dominate the crease, punching some fine shots through the in-field.

Relatively early in his innings he survived a loud ' caught behind' appeal. While he stood his ground at the crease, a host of Lymington players appeared to lose their cool, less than happy with the umpire's 'not out' decision. The chirp level increased substantially.

The 19th over saw Metzer (38 off 26 deliveries) hit Guy Layman for three consecutive fours before being trapped leg before at 87-2.

Cue Lymington celebrations and a 'coming together' between Metzger and wicketkeeper Hemmings, a bit of pushing and shoving, with plenty of verbals between the pair.

Captains Josh Royan and Joe Oates (both rookies) were spoken to by the panel umpires before play resumed.

Basingstoke slipped to 97-5 (Alex Bovill 23) and later 120-6 (Layman 3-58), but continued to bat in a positive manner with Dean Nurse (41) aggressive - he struck a six and six fours - and Neal pulling two boundaries before Adelaide left-armer Liam Thompson (4-55) relit the anger fuse with his successful lbw shout at 155-7.

Nurse became Thompson's fourth victim at 170-8 but Matt Donaldson, with a responsible run-a-ball 33, got Basingstoke across the line without further loss.

Earlier, Mo Abbas (29) eased Lymington to 89-2, only for Dubs Wood and Ash Neal to trigger a collapse which saw Hemmings (46) have to usher the New Forest side through to an uncertain 112-5 at lunch.

Hemmings perished soon after the break, but Royan (37), aided by some lusty blows by the lower order, got Lymington up to 192-8 when their innings closed, their total boosted to 197 by the five-run penalty.
