ODIHAM and Greywell B were the first side to book their place in the second round of the Cyril Thompson Trophy, writes Graham Merry.
This was thanks to a seven-wicket victory over Ashford Hill.
Ashford won the toss and elected to bat, but were bowled out for 77, as Grant Good, Peter Brown and Ben Osborne all scored 12 runs each.
Becky Hartnett was the pick of the Odiham bowlers with 4-17 from 3.4 overs and Ollie Turner returned 3-8 from his four overs which included a maiden.
Odiham reached their target in the 11th over as Will Kettle top-scored with 45 runs.
Oakley B were the next team to into the second round after a comfortable nine-wicket win over a Basingstoke Development XI.
Basingstoke scored 93-9 in their 18 overs with Scott Dyer the top scorer with 15, with Dan Jones the pick of the bowlers with 3-15
Oakley reached their target in the 16th over with Jack Brundle unbeaten on 38 and Michael Wood not out 37 at the end.
Aldermaston Rugby were the third team into the second round after they beat Ramsdell by 131 runs.
Aldermaston batted first and posted an impressive 231 as Yam Thapa (81) and Mandeep Sharma (55) led the way. Pete Ballard (2-41) did best with the ball.
The Rams reply reached 100-6 as Paul Burrows top scored with 36 as Prashant Yelphale and Pratik Surve took two wickets each.
The next games in the Trophy will see Kingsclere take on East Woodhay (Monday June 17) and then Overton face St Mary’s (Tuesday June 18).
Both matches are at May’s Bounty (5.45pm) and admission is free.
