A COLOURFUL walk in memory of loved ones to raise money for a Basingstoke hospice is open for registration.

Participants can walk in memory of a loved one, raising funds for the hospice to enable it to continue providing specialist care to families across North Hampshire.

(Image: St Michael's Hospice) Last year, more than 800 people took part in the walk and this year St Michael’s Hospice hopes the event will be bigger and more colourful as it invites attendees to wear their brightest outfits complete with glitter and neon paint.

Last year's walk featured amazing costumes, including a pair of pink ladies in a paper mache car.

Refreshments will be provided by the hospice, as well as face painting, music, and a fun team warm-up before the walk starts at 9pm in Festival Place, passing the hospice, in Aldermaston Road, on its route.

Participants can walk at their own pace guided by marshals who aim to keep energy high throughout with music and glow sticks.

Upon finishing the walk, attendees will be presented with a medal and a glass of non-alcoholic celebratory fizz.

Those who sign up will receive a fundraising pack, which contains a kit for writing messages, a dedicated t-shirt, and information on emotional support.

Entry is £20 for adults, £12 for children aged 11-17 to cover the cost of the event, and free for younger children.

St Micheal’s Hospice asks entrants to pledge to fundraise £75.
