The annual Tadley Fete on The Green returned this month, drawing a crowd of approximately 2,000 people for an afternoon filled with fun and community spirit.

The event, organised by St Paul's Church Tadley and supported by local organisations, commemorated the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

"We were delighted to host this event for the Tadley Community," said Rev Steve McKay, Rector of Tadley with Pamber Heath and Silchester.

"It was fantastic to see people of all ages having fun and enjoying being together."

The fete kicked off with an opening ceremony led by Rev McKay and former Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, David Leek, and his wife Amanda.

Entertainment was plentiful, with a dedicated music stage featuring local bands like Carbon Copy.

Around 50 stalls offered a variety of crafts and activities for all ages. Families were treated to a dedicated craft area where they could create keepsakes to take home.

"It's been a tough few years for everyone," Rev McKay said.

"With the cost of living squeeze, we wanted to host a free event that everyone in our community could enjoy. We are incredibly grateful for the support of the council and local organisations in helping us provide so much free entertainment."

The overwhelming response from stallholders and the collaborative spirit in planning the event impressed the organisers.

"The way our community has come together to plan this event has been a real joy to witness," Rev McKay said. "It truly exemplifies the strong bond within Tadley."
