THE town mayor of Alton has welcomed the extension of a care home. 

Councillor Annette Eyre inaugurated a 10-bedroom extension at Hartford Care's Belford House care home in Four Marks, Hampshire. 

Showcasing clean, modern interiors with en suite wet rooms, the new wing was toured by guests, who enjoyed entertainment by a local singer and magician.

A unique aspect of the opening was a corridor naming competition involving children from Four Marks CE Primary School.

(Image: Supplied) The winning names include The Daffodil Wing, The Milne Manor and The Aviation Wing.

Belford House provides various care services including residential, dementia, and end-life care, positioned amidst the quiet countryside on Lymington Bottom.

Cllr Eyre, said: "It’s lovely to see everyone happy. There are families, friends, former residents, and alongside the team at Belford House, everyone is kind and friendly and it feels like a family as well as a wonderful community here.

"I’m thrilled Hartford Care is now able to help more local people with the extension now complete, it’s exciting to see it all happening and I’m honoured to officially open the new bedrooms for the people of Four Marks, Alton and beyond."
