A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of burglary following an incident in Basingstoke in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called at 1.44am on Thursday, July 4, to reports that a property in Lehar Close had been broken into.
A number of items, including a wallet, game console, phone, speakers and a backpack, were stolen from inside the address. A man was apprehended at the scene and was later arrested by officers.
A 39-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling – with intent to steal and criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.
He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
A police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses as we continue to investigate the incident. Were you in the area at the time? Did you see any suspicious behaviour?
"Do you have any doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage which may help our investigation?
